For those looking to build muscle and increase strength, chest machines are a brilliant piece of equipment to incorporate into a fitness routine. Whether a gym pro or a total beginner, these machines are a brilliant way to introduce upper body exercises easily.

What does the chest press machine do?

The chest press machine targets the muscles in the chest, namely the pectorals, deltoids and triceps, building their muscle tissue and strength. This helps to build the overall upper body strength needed for day-to-day activities such as pushing a shopping trolley, opening doors and more.

Is the chest press machine the same as the bench press?

The chest press machine and the bench press are compound exercises targeting the same muscle groups. The main difference is that you do the chest press on a specific machine. In contrast, you use free weights such as a barbell or a set of dumbbells to do a bench press - the latter is the more advanced option as it requires better stability, meaning the chest press machine is better for beginners.
